Very old news regarding Paul S. Kemp

Posted By Jesse on May 10, 2010

At this point anyway but I am glad to read he will be continuing the Cale stories.

The Paul S. Kemp and Wizards of the Coast reunion tour

I’m pleased to announce that the matters I alluded to here have been resolved and that WotC and I are getting the band back together for a reunion tour.

This means that I will, in fact, be continuing the story of Riven, Mags, Cale, and his son, Vasen.  This pleases me muchly.  So much so that I think I’ll post a picture.

I posted about this last year:

Paul S. Kemp leaves Wizards of the Coast

Normally, I would not write anything about this, but I feel obliged to let those of you awaiting the release of Godborn know that I have ended my relationship with Wizards of the Coast. As a result, I will not be writing Godborn and my contribution to the Forgotten Realms will end with The Twilight War. I sincerely apologize to those of you who were awaiting The Cycle of Night.

All that happened here is that Wizards made a decision that they thought was appropriate (and was, in fact, based on perfectly valid reasons), but that decision conflicted with what I thought was appropriate. We tried to resolve matters in good faith, but it just wasn’t to be. It’s unfortunate, but it goes that way sometimes. And that’s all I’ll have to say about it so please don’t ask for further details.

I remain grateful to Wizards for publishing my novels, and in particular have nothing but the highest of praise for my editor, Phil Athans. Honestly, my primary regret here is that I feel like I’ve let a lot of you down. So again, please accept my apologies if you were one of those awaiting Godborn.

This The Cycle of Night series was to start next year and undoubtedly Godborn was my most anticipated novel of 2010. I suppose this is part of the problem with publishers and shared fiction in general, now we may never get to read the tale of Vasen Cale…

Damn this was going to be a great tale

Damn I was looking forward to this.

I know Paul will continue to churn out great works of fiction but alas I am not a fan of star wars books and that seems to be what he is working on at the moment. I am disappointed in Wotc for not doing whatever it took to keep on one of the best FR novelists.

Gravatar avatar has been set up. Kind of a cool idea, having an avatar that follows you around the web. It does remind me a little of garanimals though…

Hello World

The  site has been ported to the new server and everything seems up and running just fine.

Ashenwiki is good to go.

Chat is up and running.

Ashen Steam still needs some tweaks.

Unmentionables will need to be rebuilt.

I decided to scrap all my old database files which isn’t a big loss as there was not much here to begin with.
